Be Indie Now 34:

Game Jams

It’s the return of the panel style episode! We’ve been doing a lot of interviews lately, so I thought it would be nice to invite back Davain and Andrew to talk about Game Jams.

There was an article doing around a while ago asking, are game jams worth it? The panel thinks so, and shares their stories of jams gone right and jams gone wrong.

If you’re interest, I am also hosting my own game jam in San Francisco on September 12th, 13th and 14th.  It’s called Alpha Game Jam, you should join us!

Be Indie Now Episode 5

Today we talk about College Indies. I had on not one, not two, but three student independent game developers on the show. They each had different backgrounds, and different paths that brought them to indie game development.

The show welcomed back Davain, the first second time host, and new guests Andrew Seligman and Jordan Schutez. Andrew is the president of the Game Development Club at Cogswell Collge, and Jordan runs his own company called Ninja Pig Studios.

I am sure we will be hearing a lot more from all three of them in the future as their indie game projects and companies grow.

As always, I’d love to hear your feedback about the show. Tell me what you think, , and/or suggest topics for future shows.

Special thanks to Kenny Spade and Katherine Harris, who run the board during the show.

Be Indie Now Episode 1

This is the first episode of my brand new podcast, Be Indie Now! In the show I will discuss topics of independent game development with various guests hosts.

For the first episode, I invited my friends Katherine Harris and Davain Martinez to talk about monetization, specifically the differences between Freemium and Premium, and which one your game should use.

As this is the first episode, I am really eager to hear any and all of your comments, criticism and feedback. We are all new to talking on camera/mic, and are learning and iterating on our process. What did you like about the show?

What would you like to see more of? Less of? Please let me know, , and/or suggest topics for future shows.

Special thanks to Kenny Spade, who ran board op during the show and is teaching us how to use the equipment.
